After 10 international festivals on 5 different continents and one very special award in our home land of Suffolk, it's finally time to release our short film Aeolian to the rest of the world.
I pleased to annouce that Aeolian has just picked up the Best Animation Award at the first ever Suffolk Film Festival! The festvial took place over the weekend in Ipswich and screened over a hundred shorts selected from over 500 entries. This award means a lot to me and my co-director Cameron Lowe as we both grew up in this area. Having had my work screen at over 60 international festivals it's wonderful to have a film festival so close to home that supports and showcases the new talent this area has to offer. Our thanks go out to the jury and to everyone that has helped support our film.
I'm finally back at the desk with an hour to spare so I'd thought I'd update you all on the last few months. As you know I've been in New Zealand recently which was incredible. We started on the North Island in Auckland, hired a campervan and worked our way south before hopping over to the South Island and ending our trip in Christchurch. The landscape, the people, the food, the culture. Not forgetting the exceptional wine. A truly magical and diverse country.
And what an amazing Summer it has been (excluding the distinct lack of sunshine). I have to say London has never been on better form and the Olympics were fantastic. I'm very much looking forward to the Paraolympics and hope the Olympic hangover after it's all over isn't going to linger on too long.
Anyway Olympics aside it's been another busy month with three commercial jobs on, the first of which shot this week, with the next two shooting in September.
I am excited to annouce that Aeolian has been offically selected for Encounters International Film Festival 2012. This will be the films world premiere and it'll be playing in competition for the best animation award. This will be my third film to screen at Encounters and it's been wonderful seeing it grow into one of Europes leading short film festivals. Screening dates will be annouced shortly but in the meantime I'd like to thank everyone who helped support us during our three year production. I look forward to seeing you in Bristol.
May is set to be a busy month with back to back commercials until mid June. The first is a series of idents for C4 program sponsorship using motion control and shooting on the Alexa. I'm not allowed to say anymore other than it's for Undercover Boss and Secret Millionaire so look out for them at the end of May.
Well it's been a very cold but very busy month. I've just finished a new TV campaign for Dunlop's golfing collection featuring champion golfers Darren Clarke and Lee Westwood. Shot in a tiny pub in Epsom the advert demonstrates their golfing skills to humorous effect. They'll be on air sometime in April and on my website soon after.
