So I've bitten the bullet and gone and bought myself a new camera. After testing out the FS100, F3 and C300 I'd decided on the latter. I'm not going to go into detail about spec comparisons and whether or not the camera can do a million frames per second at 4k resolution. Just let me tell you this, the HD image's this camera produces are stunning and that's what counts. The rest is down to the filmmaker.
Along with the camera I've invested in some Zeiss ZF Primes (21mm 2.8, 35mm 1.4, 50mm 1.4m and an 85mm 1.4) as well as a Manfrottto 509HD Tripod and a shotgun mic. So it's all systems go for a good run and gun style shooting kit - perfect for low budget commercials, promos and documentary work. Whilst I'll be using the kit for a majority of my own work I will looking at hiring out the equipment, so for those of you that are interested please get in touch and I'll send you a rate card.
The camera will be arriving in the next week so I'll be starting a Vimeo page to upload tests, mood reels and mess abouts. Then in the pipline are two shorts and a microbudget feature but more about those at a later date.
